How to Search Civil Dockets
Start with the official Wilkinson County Case Search when you need a Superior civil docket. The site has been known to block outside access with an HTTP 403 error. So a direct search may not load. Have the party name, action number, filing year, and court ready before you try. The civil and juvenile division at 478-946-4312 can help. The main Superior clerk sits at 478-946-4314.
If the online docket search stalls, the clerk offers other routes. Visit the Superior counter at 100 Bacon Street, mail your request to P.O. Box 250, or fax it to 478-946-1497. You can also pull current civil calendar PDFs. Or view eligible PeachCourt case images. A written inspection request works too. Ask staff whether a public terminal works before you travel. Magistrate civil records live elsewhere. Start with the Probate/Magistrate office at 478-946-2222. Federal captions go through PACER.
- Identify Superior, Magistrate, municipal, or federal court.
- Search with the exact name or action number.
- Check filing and service dates before relying on status.
- Compare any setting with the newest civil calendar.
- Ask the custodian for a plain or certified document.
Wilkinson Civil E-Filing Routes
The Georgia Courts' e-file chart lists Wilkinson Superior Court as mandatory PeachCourt. PeachCourt handles e-filing and eligible document access. It is not the clerk's whole case-management record. Registration is free, though eligible images can carry page and convenience charges. A missing image may come down to coverage, scanning, or a sealed document.
Magistrate Court runs a separate Magistrate eFile registration route, and its registration view appears below. An account there does not cover everything. Not every Wilkinson County civil docket or historical paper is online.

That separate provider is a strong cue. Confirm the court before you file or search. For a real matter, rely on current local instructions and the clerk's fee page.
What a Civil Docket Shows
Uniform Superior Court Rule 39.2 supplies the field map for what a Wilkinson civil docket should contain. Those are required record categories, not details from any named case. The county has no publicly confirmed case-number pattern.
| Case header | Action number, caption, cause, party and attorney roles. |
|---|---|
| Starting events | Filing, service, answer dates, cost advances, and later costs. |
| Case activity | Pleadings, motions, orders, notices, and transcripts. |
| Settings | Calendar or trial date and jury or non-jury designation. |
| Outcome | Settlement, dismissal, transfer, termination, mistrial, judgment, and prevailing party. |
| Later record | Fi. fa., appeal, remittitur, minutes, final record, and stored-file reference. |
Think of the chronological register as a pointer. It shows you that filings exist. It does not replace the motion, order, transcript, or certified judgment behind an entry.
Wilkinson Magistrate Claim Boundary
The local Magistrate civil page bills this venue as the "People's Court." It handles eligible claims, garnishment, and attachment up to $15,000. Interest and court costs are excluded from that cap. Anything over the ceiling routes to Superior Court.
Divorce and other family cases stay out. So do title-to-real-estate claims, mandamus, prohibition, specific performance, quo warranto, and injunctions. Sharing a courthouse does not merge the dockets. Sending a claim to the correct Wilkinson County civil docket saves trouble. It avoids a failed portal search and a request to the wrong clerk.
| Question | Magistrate route | Superior route |
|---|---|---|
| Amount | Eligible value up to $15,000 | Claims above the local ceiling |
| Examples | Statement of claim, eligible garnishment or attachment | Major civil, domestic, land title, equitable relief |
| Custodian | Probate/Magistrate office | Clerk of Superior and Juvenile Court |
Types of Civil Cases
The Superior clerk's jurisdiction materials name general civil actions, garnishments, domestic actions, name changes, family-violence actions, land registration, and condemnation. Treat this as a routing list. It does not promise that each family appears through one public interface.
- General civil claims and major money disputes
- Garnishment and related collection proceedings
- Domestic actions and name changes
- Family-violence actions with access limits where applicable
- Land registration and condemnation matters
Magistrate Court lists its own forms: statements of claim, attachments, garnishments, and dispossessories. Probate matters belong in Probate Court, even though that office shares local administration with Magistrate.
Wilkinson Civil Answer Sequence
Under the Magistrate page, a defendant gets 30 days to answer a Statement of Claim. Default arrives on day 31. A further 15-day window lets default be opened by paying costs, with 45 days as the maximum period discussed. Once an answer is filed, the clerk mails a trial date.
Those are general local instructions. A real deadline turns on service and the record. Confirm it with the clerk or counsel. The docket's service date, answer entry, and later setting carry more weight than a headline status. Dispossessory forms sit on the same local site. The copied Pike County language there is not Wilkinson-specific.
Note: A default label or missed response date should be checked against service, filed papers, costs, and the court’s actual order.
Settings and Hearings on Civil Dockets
Wilkinson County posts civil trial and case-status calendars separately from the civil register. A March 26, 2026 calendar for Judge Amanda S. Petty set a 3:00 p.m. call. It grouped cases as Ready for Trial, Ready Non-Jury, or Not Ready. Parties had to appear or file a written announcement. Counsel and self-represented parties had to identify a case by page and item.
Skip both and the court could mark the case Ready or dismiss it without prejudice. The notice also required filing the original announcement with the clerk. None of this is a judgment; it is setting instructions. Check the Wilkinson County court calendar. Then call the civil division to verify the current date, appearance method, and any reset.
Wilkinson Civil Status Terms
Calendar language and outcome language are different things. Ready for Trial announces a posture for a call, not that a trial happened. Not Ready may precede a reset, an order, or a later calendar, and the docket should show what followed.
- Service
- Formal delivery recorded by date and method.
- Default
- A status after a required response is not timely made, subject to the record and law.
- Fi. fa.
- An execution document tied to a judgment and its satisfaction history.
- Dismissal without prejudice
- A dismissal that does not itself decide the claim’s merits.
- Remittitur
- The appellate mandate returned to the trial court.
Read the newest order before deciding that a setting label became an outcome.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 starts from public inspection, though a law or court order can limit a defined part of a file. Rule 21.6 and O.C.G.A. §9-11-7.1 protect sensitive identifiers. Adoption indexes and records are confidential under Rule 39.6. So a public docket can coexist with a redacted or withheld image.
Key rules:
Uniform Superior Court Rules 21 and 39 cover access limits and civil docket fields.
Georgia Open Records request guidance favors a direct written request to the custodian.
The Georgia Open Records Act does not override a court seal, adoption confidentiality, or protected-identifier rules.
When you contact the clerk about a Wilkinson County civil docket, say what you want: inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy. Give the action number, the filing year, and the document date.
Missing Wilkinson Civil Cases
A missing case on a Wilkinson County docket search usually means a search error, not a missing case. Check that the court, the spelling, and the year are right. The action number must match too. Confirm whether the matter belongs to Magistrate, Superior, Probate, a municipal court, or the federal system. Then call the correct division. Ask the clerk if the file sits off site, is sealed, was transferred, is too old for the provider, or sits under a different caption.
Note: The Georgia Judicial Gateway routes users to providers; it is not one unified statewide trial-court civil docket search.
